Description

Each week, we’ll have a group call on Friday at 2pm Eastern. In this call, we’ll briefly cover the week’s topic, review our progress, and answer questions.

We will have availability each week for you to schedule your 1-on-1 call to follow up and help with anything holding you back.

1-on-1 scheduling availability:

Dylan: Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am-5pm Pacific

Pre Class Homework: Finding Your Message + Your Market

Before we get started, we’ll give you some exercises to refine your message and your target market. These will help you discover topics that you are uniquely qualified to write about, and define the audience you’d like to reach with your content.

By the start of week 1, you’ll have a list of top level categories for your content plan and a list of avatars who are actively seeking the information you will provide. You’ll also fill out a competitor spreadsheet that will let us pull proven topic ideas from other people who are already engaged in conversation with your target audience.

We’ll have weekly office hours leading up to the workshop, where you can join and ask questions about this process!

Week 1: Brainstorm + Pick Winning Topics

We’ll be using our favorite topic discovery exercises to come up with a large list of potential topic ideas. We will use our custom Notion template to organize your ideas and rank them based on your business goals. This will provide a system for you to add new ideas over time!

By the end of week 1, you will have at LEAST 10 winning topic ideas. On our 1-on-1 call, we’ll help you narrow down your list and choose a topic to write for the class!

Week 2: Research, Outline, Write

We will guide you through using our content template to research and outline a topic so that it is most likely to be discoverable by searchers. This is the real magic of SEO, and will be a skill you can use on all of your content going forward.

By the end of week 2, you will have at least one piece of content fully researched, outlined and ready to write. Don’t worry, we will guide you through each step, and help you refine the outline so that it is great for usability and SEO!

Homework: Write the post! To get the most out of this class, you should be prepared to write one blog post between week 2 and week 3. This doesn’t have to be an “ultimate guide” or other extremely long post, but it should be at least 1000 words. 

Week 3: Formatting + Optimization

After you’ve written your post, we will review it with you and make sure it is perfectly optimized for search. Some of the things we can help with:

  • Writing an optimized title and meta description
  • Adding internal links to other content on your site
  • Special features like a table of contents, “last updated” date, etc.
  • Featured image, formatting, and getting ready to publish

By the end of week 3, you should have a piece of content that you are ready to confidently share with the rest of the group!

Week 4: Creating a Long Term Content Strategy

In week 4, we’ll look to make a longer term content strategy using the tactics learned in the first weeks to create a long term content strategy process. This will allow you to create content for other specialties or long into the future.

Bonus Lessons: Sharing your content, Tracking & Updates

These lessons are great for building your post-publish workflow. Sharing the content for best results, tracking your rankings and traffic, and how to regularly update your content for improved rankings over time.

Requirements/Commitment

  • This isn’t a self-paced course, and is designed to teach through action. If you can’t make the coaching calls, you won’t get the full benefit of the coaching. Plan to commit 2-3 hours per week on the calls, and additional time between weeks 2-3 to write a post.
  • 1-on-1 calls MUST be used one per week during June 2023.
